OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Mark Forbes is an expert in the field of membrane technology with a career spanning over four decades. He began his journey in this field in 1984 with Memtec Ltd followed by positions at ICI Watercare and ICI Membranes, where he contributed to the development of novel membrane technologies. As Director of Project Development at Koch Membrane Systems in the USA, Mark supervised significant international projects and was essential in directing research for state-of-the-art membrane elements and systems.

Mark’s achievements at Akvotek include the development of the PVCycle™ process, a state-of-the-art process for

recycling wastewater produced during the manufacture of PVC resin and the creation of the NantraDOC™ membrane for reducing organics in surface water without the use of chemicals.

Recognised for his industry contributions, including as Director of the Water Industry Alliance, General Manager at the Australian Water Quality Centre and involvement with AWA, IWA, IDA, and IWAA committees, Mark has led multiple significant projects. These include the Bundamba Advanced Water Treatment Plant

and over 25 MBR sewage treatment plants across Australia, showcasing his dedication to the advancement of water treatment technologies.
