How clean water transformed Phil’s farming operation

Pig farmer Phil echoes the importance of clean water in livestock farming. “If I wouldn’t drink the water, I’m not going to feed it to my animals,” he says. Phil was one of the first to adopt Akvotek’s Nantra™ C water treatment system, which produces bright, clean, good-tasting water directly from irrigation channel sources. Project Highlight: Transforming Water for Intensive Farming

One of our latest projects involves working with a major Australian food producer on a large-scale ultrafiltration (UF) water treatment plant. This system treats highly turbid irrigation channel water and brings it up to potable standards without the need for chemical coagulation.

This advanced solution not only removes sediment, microorganisms, and harmful algal toxins but also includes a pH adjustment system designed to optimise water quality for livestock health. To complete the setup, we have incorporated a state-of-the-art packaged pump system to distribute the treated water efficiently across the farm.

Akvotek will be working closely with the farm to study how improved water quality impacts animal health, mortality rates, and overall productivity. Studies suggest that better water quality leads to significant gains in growth rates, disease resistance, milk production and operational efficiency.

The Nantra™ C system operates without chemicals, making it a sustainable, “set-and-forget” solution for busy farms. It can treat between 20,000 L/day and 2 million L/day, ensuring that farms of all sizes can access high-quality water.
